TasteLive Tuesdays
I Just Want To Celebrate...Old World Wines!
Sometimes, when you jumpstart a program, everything falls into place just like envisioned. Other times, moving quickly brings surprises. In launching TasteLive Tuesdays, we pressed hard to get “Hurrah Syrah” off the ground in several weeks as an apertif to the Rhone Rangers upcoming San Francisco Grand Tasting. That proved a challenge. Though purchasing tickets to the 14th Annual series of events on March 26 and 27 is easy. Be there!
The surprise: Through the accelerated process, we were introduced to the wines of Darek Trowbridge at Old World Winery during William Allen’s (Simple Hedonisms) February Sonoma Facebook Wine Meetup.
With a focus on using natural yeasts and winemaking techniques, Darek inspired us to put a new spin on the event and feature his wines for the launch of TasteLive Tuesdays. We found his wines to be a beautiful balance between earth, acid and fruit—with an accent on earth—a rare find in the world of California wines.
Here’s the line-up:
2005 Cabernet Two Rock (Pre-Release)
2005 Zinfandel Laughlin Vineyard
Our musical pairing suggestion for the night is Motown’s first Blue-Eyed Funk band from the early 70s, Rare Earth and their huge hit, “I Just Want to Celebrate!”
Old World Wines. Old School Funk. Now that’s a pairing…
