Selections for Tonight's Tasting
Current Selections!
"When it comes to making Chardonnay at Kunde Family Estate, we feel like some of those TV chefs who don't want to stop to read the recipe while they're cooking; we have Chardonnay down cold. What are the ingredients? Well, you start with some fancy low-yielding Chardonnay selections from France, add a good dose of our standby Wildwood and Wente selections, and a pinch of Italian-selection Chardonnay as well. Then we use high end Chardonnay winemaking techniques: gentle handling of the grapes, barrel fermetnation, French oak barrels, and stirring of the yeast lees every one or two weeks for months. Our great Sonoma Valley estate produces a crisp, fresh wine that is delicious out of the gate. Look out for the aromas of spiced apples and peaches that spill out of the glass; everyone around you will notice and start looking to see who poured that great smelling wine. If they offer to bring some pan-seared scallops or sauteed halibut wrapped in bacon and herbs, invite them to your party!"
"The 2006 Kunde Family Estate Cabernet Sauvignon is a Sonoma Valley classic. Maybe it's the fact that no other vineyard in the area has quite so much deep red dirt as we do here on the ranch that tells you immediately this wine is pure Kunde. The aromas of raspberry and sage combine with a mouthful of chocolate richness to uniquely express our part of California. Prime rib or a juicy T-bone with garlicy broccoli rabe are the first things we think of when we sip this wine. We can't promise that the high iron content of our soils fortifies our wines with essential minerals, but you can sure taste how special it makes our flavors!"
"The 2006 Kunde Family Estate Zinfandel is one sneaky character. It starts out as a well mannered and elegant claret styled wine, but the spicy flavors seem to grow in your glass. The beautiful berry aromas follow up and keep on coming. Pork tenderloin with a spicy rub would be just the match for this beauty - well-mannered but a little bit wild. Watch out - you might find the bottle disappearing somehow!"
